Whatever your interests are, the opportunities for fun are endless on the Oregon Coast! Here are some of our favorite activities.

5 Fun Things to Do on the Oregon Coast

1. Visit the Great Dune of Cape Kiwanda

Soaring six stories above the beach, the Great Dune of Cape Kiwanda is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. This giant sand hill in Pacific City is a great place to bring the kids. The Pacific’s pounding waves and stormy winds have carved out the cape’s cliffs, creating arches, caves, and tide pools around the dune. From the top,  visitors can experience a sprawling ocean vista and watch as the Dory Boats return from their fishing trips.

2. Hike to Hug Point

Hug Point State Park is located just south of Cannon Beach. This popular park boasts waterfalls, caves, cliffs, and miles of sandy shoreline. For a fun day outdoors, take an easy stroll from the parking lot to Hug Point where you’ll find an old stagecoach trail that’s covered with starfish during low tide. You’ll also have great views of Haystack Rock to the north. Be sure to bring your camera!

3. Make a Splash

Known for its chilly waters and wicked, wild surf, the Oregon Coast is an ideal destination for watersports. Guests can enjoy awesome Oregon Coast surfing at Oswald West State Park, kitesurfing in Manzanita, or paddle boarding and kayaking on Nehalem Bay. Keep your eyes peeled for curious native wildlife including whales and harbor seals.

4. Shop ‘Til You Drop

If getting in the water isn’t your thing, there’s no need to worry. The Coast is home to a wide variety of antique stores, specialty shops, and galleries that are perfect for a little retail therapy. Enjoy purchasing fresh local produce from over 200 vendors at the Astoria Sunday Market or find your new favorite novel at Cloud & Leaf Bookstore. You can even pick out the perfect gift for family or friends at Cannon Beach Treasure. You’ll find special souvenirs that will help you remember your Oregon Coast vacation forever!

5. Drive the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway

U.S. Route 101, also known as the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, is a major north–south highway that runs for 363 miles along the Oregon Coast. It stretches from the California border to the Washington state line, traveling past shining beaches, temperate rain forests, and countless attractions along the way.
