Iredale Wreck on the Oregon Coast

The West Coast is home to a bounty of natural treasures. These stunning landscapes offer some of the most incredible destinations in the entire world, with miles of breathtaking coastline, mountains, bodies of water, and geological marvels. The Beaver State’s collection of these natural wonders doesn’t get any better than a handful of must-see sights on the Oregon Coast. Whether it’s an old shipwreck on the beach or a gorgeous mountain trail, you’ll never run out of new and exciting wonders here.

Our Favorite Oregon Coast Must-See Sights

Haystack Rock

Maybe one of the most iconic must-see sights along the Oregon Coast, Haystack Rock is straight out of a postcard. This 235-foot tall rock is the third tallest “intertidal” structure in the world, and no walk on Cannon Beach is complete without exploring the base of it during low tide. Thousands of coastal birds call this site home during mating season. Needless to say, bring your camera with you for some incredible photo ops.

Ecola State Park

If you want to experience the wild landscapes of the Oregon Coast, Ecola State Park is the place to go. This amazing park holds several must-see Oregon Coast sights, but few match the views looking south on the trails branching off from the main parking lot. We also recommend taking a quick trek down to Crescent Beach for a peaceful retreat on the sandy shores of the Pacific.

Seaside’s Turnaround and Promenade

The Seaside Promenade evokes a sense of a 1920s beach town boardwalk. It’s one of the most unique sights along the wild and wonderful Oregon Coast, with rows of shops and restaurants that also include mini golf, an old-fashioned carousel, and an arcade. Go for a sunset walk here if you want to have your breath taken away.

Astoria’s Historical Attractions

Sitting at the mouth of the Columbia River, the town of Astoria has a rich maritime history. The Columbia River Maritime Museum, Fort Clatsop, and Fort Stevens State Park all offer a peek into the past, with fascinating attractions. The remains of the Peter Iredale shipwreck on the beach at Fort Stevens is a sight to behold. If you want to experience some of the best views of the Columbia River, we recommend taking a trip to the top of the peculiar but fascinating Astoria Column.

Nehalem Bay State Park

Nehalem Bay State Park offers a couple of must-see sights on the Oregon Coast. The ocean side of the park has a beautiful series of dunes bordering the beach and shore pine. If you walk up and down the bay side of the peninsula, there are some fantastic views of rolling hills and mountains to the east.

Neahkahnie Mountain

You’ll experience some of the best sights on the Oregon Coast from atop Neahkahnie Mountain. Access the trail just north of Manzanita and hike up to the Mountain Trail Viewpoint, where you can see miles of the stunning coastline on a clear day.
