Take in the sights of the Oregon Coast in a unique way! The Oregon Coast Railriders offers fun tours of the region by pedal power. Ride the rails of the Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad on a railroad bicycle. During your tour, you’ll be able to admire the tidal flora and fauna as your pass over estuaries, meadows, and streams. These tours are a great way for friends, families, and groups of all ages to spend a day. Find out what you need to know about this attraction before you head out.

About Oregon Coast Railriders

History

Oregon Coast Railriders was established in 2016 with just one tour available. The Bay City route uses seven miles of the historic Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad, which was originally built to transport lumber and agricultural products in the 1990s. Recently, the company added a second route to their roster.

Tour Information

Each custom-designed railrider has four adjustable seats and pedals that propel the unit at your speed. There’s no need to worry about whether you’re doing it right; guides will accompany your group and help you navigate road crossings, turn you around, and assist with any other issues that may arise.
The Bay City route is a two-hour ride, with departures at 9:00 a.m., noon, and 3:00 p.m, from Thursday through Monday. In total, you’ll pedal around 12 miles.

The newer tour, Wheeler, is more convenient for guests staying along the Oregon Coast. During the ride, you’ll go through forest tunnels of the Oregon Coast Mountain range. This is a shorter tour, about nine miles in total. It takes a little less than two hours to complete. The Wheeler tour departs at 9:00 a.m., noon, and 3:00 p.m., Saturday through Wednesday.

Things to Remember

  • Tours run rain or shine. Dress for the weather and come prepared with sun protection or a light rain jacket.
  • Much like cycling, rail riding is a physical sport. We recommend packing some water for the trip.
  • Be sure to check your email for confirmation of reservations and payment.
  • Don’t forget to bring a camera!
