Enjoy the Beautiful Outdoors
There are so many ways that you and your family can enjoy the gorgeous coastline. A favorite activity of the locals around here is to rent some fat tire bikes and ride up and down the beach. These unique bikes are wider tires, making them perfect for cruising on rocky or sandy surfaces. You can rent these and traditional beach cruisers from Bahama Mama’s two blocks from the beach in Manzanita.
If you’re more interested in exploring on foot, there are plenty of great hiking trails just a short drive away. Neahkahnie Mountain is a fun hike for families searching for gorgeous vistas. Ecola State Park is another excellent choice. You’ll be able to get a look at the infamous Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, which is said to be haunted.
If the weather’s good, consider renting some kayaks and paddle your way around. Head to Wheeler Marina to rent some equipment, then explore the trails that wind through Nehalem Bay. If you need a map, the marina sells guidebooks that detail the best places to paddle.
Surfing is another favorite activity around here for teens! If you’ve never surfed these waters before, head to Cleanline Surf to rent some equipment. Catch Your Dinner
The Oregon Coast is home to the best seafood in the country. While there are plenty of local markets that sell freshly caught crabs and clams, it’s way more fun to catch your own seafood. Crabbing and clamming are two of the most-loved activities in the Oregon Coast.
If you’re in the mood for Dungeness crabs, Nehalem Bay is the place to go! You can visit Kelly’s Brighton Marina, where you can get the basics of catching, cleaning, and cooking crabs. During your visit, you can drop nets or pots from a boat. This is the perfect place to go if you’re unfamiliar with crabbing. Inc, Funland Entertainment Center, and Captain Kid Amusement Park are all great places where you can enjoy arcade games, bumper cars, and more.
